Hello from mid Kent

Postby AJB Temple » 25 Sep 2020, 10:13

Hello

It turns out I joined here in April 2019 but have made no posts until now. Nor have I "lurked". Based in Kent mainly (with family in Netherlands and Germany) I may be an asylum seeker from another well known forum that is becoming a bit tiresome.

I'm an experienced and OK'ish amateur woodworker, interested in oak framing, architecture, and cabinet making. Also do a bit of metal forging (not very well - I'm a learner). Used to make acoustic and electric guitars and latterly the odd violin as a hobby, but have largely given that up now.

Hi Adrian, Welcome to being active in TWH2.
You should be much safer here especially now that one of the lunatics has been put in part control of that particular Asylum

Thanks all.

It was actually Mike G who reminded me of this place, so I thought I would check it out.

Welcome Adrian, good to see you over here.
I'm seriously considering severing ties with Charlie's castoff too, but will give Sunnybob and MikeK a chance to stamp out the uninformed posturing first.

Are they sending you those "Daily Activity" emails? I think they're sending them out specifically to entice old members back. I'm not sure about the legality of it actually, would Charley have been allowed to basically sell all of our emails to an American firm like that?

You can probably block the emails via your email, but you could sign into the other place and turn off the newsletter option.

Yep a few friends have mentioned recently they have started receiving emails even though they’ve not been on UKW for 6 to 7 years, it does seem wrong to me.

Mods, just an observation. Some us haven't a clue about what some members are talking about.

It often happens in life that some of us don't have a clue about what is going on elsewhere. I don't feel it is the mods job to bring everyone up to speed on what every facet of a thread is about when it is publicly available info.

Thanks Mike, and you other guys. Trevanion that is a cool GIF.

I have a 3000 plus post count in the other place and zippo here. Not sure I really qualify as a sapling though as I am into my fifties now :D

Does Gary (Custard) post here out of interest?

In Apple Mail that's easy to sort out. Simply add a rule to automatically delete those emails as they arrive. Maybe a PC has something similar ?
