Did anyone come to the house? postman, delivery drivers, trades etc.
As with anything new I'm a late adopter and wait for a couple recalls, updates etc so I'll wait and see.

Why do the cup1d s7un7s commission these packages to only run on the more modern phones. Surely if they want as many people to use the app it makes sense to make it compatible with the oldest possible operating systems. Both Mrs and I are classed with a degree of vulnerability - she much more than I but neither of our smart phones will run the app.

That does sound plausible. I usually turn off BT on my older Iphone 5s as it does affect battery life quite markedly.

I think it's inherent in the type of Bluetooth connectivity that it uses to minimise battery drain. Some sort of low-power Bluetooth, I believe.
