Tempus fugit

I've just got back from my local Waitrose and at the end I threw in a copy of today's 'Times' into the trolly as it's free if you spend over £10. It was only later when I was lobbing it into the recycling bin did I glance at the price...

£2.20! :o

Ye Gods, the last time I actually had to buy a paper I think it was about 30p. 'tempus fugit' - Rob

Serves you right for buying (or aquiring I suppose) the Times.

The crossword in the Telegraph is much better.

We have a subscription, which is far cheaper.
Digital copy....... The initial attraction was a daily paper when we were aboard....... a distant memory but we used to have up to three foreign holidays a year, good job we did when we had the chance, cos I can't seeing it happening again.
I like to read a hard copy so the vouchers are lodged with the nearest newsagent.
We fetch the Sunday one, a neighbour fetches the Saturday one for herself, but we only get others if we happen to be passing.

We do the concise cross word daily, my brain can't deal with cryptic concepts.

I tend to look at free 'online newspapers' too, usually the Guardian and the Daily Mail to get both a left wing and a right wing viewpoint. I also check out the CNN website.

Lately I've become a convert to the Times Radio. It's much less 'woke' than the BBC.

No, no the cryptic are more fun.

But it helps if you know the setter. Dunno if they still tell you that in the Times. My partner is a fiend for them and is disappointed if it’s not done in half an hour.

I specialise in floating along late in the contest and murmuring: ‘Well, 4 across is amethyst. And you might want to try kingsman there’. And then moving off to make some coffee.

Insufferable. [Not to be tolerated: Elba confused after bearing internal torment (12)].

And I know that’s rubbish, but I have just had a medicinal bottle of Burgundy. So don't expect too much.
