They haven't fixed it yet...

But to reiterate, this is NOT a problem with the forum or with the forum host. This is an issue with a number of arbitrary 'blacklist' sites out there that choose to blacklist certain sites/mail relays based on manual or automated reports of SPAM or other nefarious behaviour.

Looking into it I found that in particular the mail relay server of our host is blacklisted because of this...

Reason for listing - Received: from mout.kundenserver.de ([212.227.126.130]) 3 Mar 2021 13:12:30 +0100 Subject: Pending Emails For tamik@theofficeshopinc.com

This 'tamik@theofficeshopinc.com appears to have either been spamming or sent some emails that have been reported as spam, thus causing the either automated or reported blacklist. What I have done is ask the host to look into it, request the un-blacklisting of the mail relay, and look into the cause.

I'm waiting on that, and having had to do the same kind of investigation in work before now, it's not something that will turn around in 5 minutes.
Cheers

Okay chaps. I 've had a response from support and while the chap doesn't have English as his first language I believe what they're telling me is that they've edited the SPF records for admin@thewoodhaven2.co.uk so that these emails are no longer routed via the blacklisted server.

At least I think that's what he's trying to tell me, I have written it back to him in simplistic terms to see if that is indeed what they have done.

In the meantime can people who are on the notification list for this thread please let me know if you have received notifications, and if you receive notifications for other threads you are involved in?

We now need user feedback to understand whether the issue is resolved or not.

Thanks
Mark

It's still a bit quiet on the notification front. I just looked at active topics and should have had emails for the top two, which have had fresh posts in the last hour, but didn't.

Mark, I've had a few notifications today but curiously NOT for this thread.
Or for this thread viewtopic.php?f=27&t=5642 that I should be subscribed to being a prior poster.

Mark,
Again no notification of your latest post above but I did get one for your Dewalt saw reply and that seems to still go through the blacklisted servers see below.

None here for this thread but one from DaveL for the ABW thread.

Checking further, none for:

And why would I get a notification just now for a thread that I've never even looked at ?

And sometimes I will get a notification with the thread title. At other times, the sub-forum eg The WoodMangler's Retreat.

I think those must be forum s/w related ?

Mind you, it's not a biggie.

I've just noticed that the forum has been sending me notifications but since 17 March, Gmail has treated them all as spam - presumably because of the forum mailserver having appeared on a blacklist. But all is well, now that I have retrained it to put them in the right folder.

Did you ever get a reply Mark.

Comparing two notifications sent to me, the initial routing seems similar

Older much delayed mail

newer (today) mail

recent routing.jpg

I'm still waiting for a response from Virgin to see if they will do something from their end. Since I've been buffering forum mail via gmail, I Don't appear to be missing mail but clearly other members seem to still be having problems.

Yep got a reply back to say they had done something but I don’t believe they understand what the issue actually is so I’ve gone back to them to explain in specific detail what I’ve already explained to them in specific detail, but using different language to see if I can make them understand.

I think the challenge is that ultimately it’s the blacklisters we need to hit but I think it’s the host that need to do that. I’m reality though this isn’t impacting them so making them see that it’s in their control to deal with it for their customer is now my challenge.
