Xmas contribution - Reindeer

The place to be to discuss Scrolling and other artistic forms of Woodbutchery

Xmas contribution - Reindeer

Postby Phil » 19 Dec 2019, 07:33

The pattern came from the Woodworkers Guild newsletter

The pattern is for 4x2, cut on a bandsaw. I resized it so that I could cut it on the Hegner

80mm high and 20mm thick.

The pattern needs some adjusting to make the reindeer better proportioned, will look later on and see if there is anymore scrap (crap) SA Pine.

Might still paint it bright red

Fresh off the saw (pine always has a nice smell)

Such a simple looking shape but gets across what it is quite clearly. I like it too.

They would make great name place holders for the table.

Here is the second one in Red.

The blank was at the height limit for the Hegner, so the arm kept on hitting the top.
Took longer to cut.
Also we do not have that blue painters tape. Our tape is 'masking tape' which the saw blade does not like.

Cut and painted

The pair of them next to the xmas glockenspiel.

Just cut a slot in both antlers to rest a name card in - only needs to be the thickness of a piece of paper/card - the reindeer then face the place setting to have the name card facing the place setting.

I now have some Blue Tape 8-)

Thanks to Woolf (member) for pointing me in the direction of BuildersWarehouse.
I also bought some clear packaging tape.
