Barge Bowl

Postby Dalboy » 02 Nov 2020, 20:13

I needed some me time so a simple bowl. Decorated in a similar style to barge painted flowers. 8 1/2" X 1 1/2" London plain. Flowers are done with Inktense pencils and finished with Acrylic sander sealer and woodwax22

Thank you Malcolm. Sometimes London plain can be very decorative as can be seen in the bowl portion of this piece

'Tis good stuff alright, 'specially when you can see the fleck in the grain when it's cut on the quarter - Rob

Very nice Derek, did you freehand those flowers or use a stencil?

I did make my own stencils to make things easier but did add little bits and pieces to slightly change them a little.

A question Derek; how did you stop the colour creeping along the grain? I assume the bowl was sealed before the colour was applied? - Rob

The inktense are like a colouring pencil so the colour goes where you want it you then use an water brush allowing just enough water to enter the brush and then paint the colour. The wood is bare wood no sealer.
This is the first real time I have used them
