• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    NHS - truly amazing service

Hope things continue well for you. Just posting to add my positive NHS experience.. A couple of months ago i had some gut pains that were relatively mild but went on too long. Contacted the doctor and had the appointment and nothing obvious wrong. Blood tests were suggested and i was asked when...

    Blood pressure

So Mrs has had a pre planned phone appointment (most appointments seem to be done by phone round here) with the cardiology nurse - and has put her name down for ablation. Officially the success rate is good (no more than that offered) but it depends on getting the right spot and the problem not...

    Blood pressure

It's a Facebook group and i don't do facebook. Mrs says some on the group have been through it 3 times and without success. guess the ones 'cured' don't need to be in the group and provide balance. An upcoming appointment may get the official view as it is something she is considering.

    Blood pressure

She was shy of those as people on an A-fib facebook group say it has made them obsessive about monitoring. She has had NHS holter monitor during a time the A_fib was bad. Ablation was suggested but her group says it doesn't work a lot of times so still under consideration.

    Blood pressure

Not constantly checking pulse rate though she does check it. I'm no expert on A-fib but she is now. She gets ectopic beats - extra triggered beats within a normal rhythm. They vary from not happening to frequent for no apparent reason. Good days can be months long then she gets the ectopics and...

    Blood pressure

My wife gets A-fib and is on medication. Got her a Huawei D2 watch last Christmas. She used the blood pressure testing a lot at first but found it to vary a lot more than the reading from the Omron - so she no longer uses it for BP. The ECG on the watch can detect A-fib but not if over 140 bpm...

    Cutting disks

My guess is a low grade stainless steel. Try a light cut with maybe some wd40 sprayed on or get a stainless cutting disc. The flat has more heat build up and work hardens may be what is happening.

    Cutting disks

That is a bit odd. What is the lump on the horizontal leg of the angle? Are you cutting off a weld? It's over 20 years since I was metalworking. Most of the brands we used I don't see on google. I do see Norton at Toolstation and they used to be good.

    Sausages

Steve - this is what I made when I started on home made sausages https://www.localfoodheroes.com/the-thurlaston-sausage/ Pretty much a basic pork sausage but an easily scaled recipe for making more or less mix. Skins are a matter of preference. We like more browned outer surface compared to...

    Sausages

My chicken sausages thread - https://www.thewoodhaven2.co.uk/threads/chicken-sausages.8734/ My aim in sausage making was to have lower fat in the sausage compared to supermarket - and to know exactly what is in them. https://www.weschenfelder.co.uk/ do seasoning’s and skins for many types of...

Interesting project but I need to complain about your thread title - I have Santana stuck singing in my head now....

    Co-op Rip Off Insurers

I've been getting quotes on new cars I'm considering. It's become clear that driver age is a factor (I'm 71). A clean record and years of experience don't count for much it seems. I'm paying £350 in north east London for my Skoda superb 190 and have comparison site quotes for new group 32 cars...

    A question for the electricians

800W is the limit but I can see that being useful. My smart meter says I am currently using 570W with no heavy consuming appliances in use. So solar could offset that during daylight - then it's down to calculating if it's worth doing. The inverter is around £120 and panels can be had for around...

    A question for the electricians

I was curious about 'balcony solar' too. As to safety I read that the plug pins shut off being powered by the solar in less time than it takes to pull the plug all the way out. As a grid tied inverter it will not work without the mains supply to synchronise with. It adds 800W (but probably less)...

Audio Books, how to use for ageing technophobes

There's also the echo show for an alexa device with a screen to show choices of books and it has a speaker to play them. I bought a 'show' but sent it back as it couldn't do what I wanted - but it probably will do what you want.
