• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Mike builds a teardrop (tongue box and conduit)

As a neutral observer with no interest in camping or caravans, it is weight you do not need in UK or Europe. However as you are building the tank into the frame it would help keep the centre of gravity low. The downside is any volume of water that can move around would risk stability. If it...

I am not sure they let us have quarter sawn in the UK I think you lot keep it to yourself. I prefer the through and through sawn stuff and occasionally you get a board with some ripple on it. I think there are two such boards in todays batch

Talking of which have you looked at poplar plywood. It is supposed to be very light weight yet rigid. Also these people are quite reliable https://vadania.co.uk/?_kx=u5K0EWKAB12oaLwXZBbTLoZ_b-hBhJtUsM49CKK3WsI.Nq2vTd

Mike builds a teardrop (tongue box and conduit)

It might not make much difference but it must affect it. If Mike had put all the bricks between the axles and the stack of scaffold planks creates a different point load on the axle to if he had placed all the bricks at the opposite end of the plank to the stack of scaffold planks or if he had...

Mike builds a teardrop (tongue box and conduit)

This looks interesting fun. On your load calculation you had the far end of the plank resting on a stack of scaffold planks. Surely you would need to know the point load resting on the stack of scaffold planks as this would impact the load on your axles?

First shot at an Acanthus Leaf updated with second attempt

Are you working with White Oak or European? White Oak is easier to work. Check how sharp the tool really is and look at the geometry of the micro curve at the bottom of the tool it may be riding on the back of the grind. The third point is to consider grain direction working downhill is still...

You can buy over sized none square plywood back in Blighty but they usually tell you it is over sized for you to square up.

They need to be super sharp and with perfect geometry. In use, I use a light mallet even for very light cuts that would be easy to push. The mallet lightly taps the V tool along whilst the other hand steers the tool. It gives far more control than pushing and avoids the inevitable slip when it...
