• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Stanley 48

I saw a vid about the Stanley 48 by Rob Cosman (like/not like) anyway, the 48 looked intriguing (despite the fact that I have a perfectly good Stanley 50 already) Anyone got one?

    New bandsaw

I am in the market for a new bandsaw. The two I am considering are the Record Sabre 350 or the Laguna 14 12. Both can be had for identical price. The Laguna has a touch more resaw capacity (not a huge deal for me) and ceramic guides and I think a little more power. The record has a fine...

    Shinto rasp

Anyone use one? I have ordered one. They look interesting, I don't particularly use rasps but that might just be because I've never really had a decent one and these appealed to me (possibly just because I haven't bought any new tools for ages).

    insulating under roof

Hi all, I want to insulate under our roof. Its a standard pitched concrete tiled roof. 300mm between rafters with 4x4 purlins. Each slope is about 6x4m with 9' height at the centre. My intention is to place the insulation boards directly onto the edge of the rafters sat against (within)...

    Startrite (275?) tablesaw problem

Hi all, This tablesaw is at school (I teach DT). The problem has arisen following a repair to replace a universal joint on the tilt mechanism carried out by the dept technician. Now with everything put back, (he removed the table) the blade is not parallel to the mitre slots, its out by about...

    Ash worktops anyone?

I am in the process of planning a new kitchen. Currently we have beech worktops. I cannot reuse as the layout will be completely different. I really like the idea of full stave ash worktops but I am slightly dubious of possible problems with staining. I would be using a (non yellowing) oil...

    Original Nitromors

I see that the original Nitromors is back on sale (in Aldi). I know it was removed from sale due to EU rules. I'm guessing we can buy it again due to Brexit? And to think that I voted remain....if only I had known!
