• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Thanks, I know how it is taxed. It was part of my job for twenty five years.

Most people I know would class rotgut as £4 - £6. Newspaper wine writers wouldn't class £10 wines as rotgut. A little downmarket, maybe, but not rotgut.

I've been using this stuff, £19 a litre from Amazon. I can't fault it so far.

I've used quite a loy of Rennie screwdriver bits, they are good. My Bosch router is so old I have a 3/8th collet for it. I never did buy 3/8th bits.

    Your favourite listenings......

Three written by artists that really were too young to have written them - Neil Young, 19, Sandy Denny, 19, and John Prine, 22.

    Your favourite listenings......

I did a few bike rallies in the '80s - the disco often started at 6am with either Paranoid, Freebird or Stairway to Heaven. Good times. edit - I almost forgot The Ace of Spades..:)

    Your favourite listenings......

Yes, successfully ruined by by Geldof. I saw Floyd in Wembley, 1988, brilliant. The Australian Pink Floyd are in Plymouth, Nov. iirc. - I've seen them before they are excellent.

Strawberry picked this morning, just needed to pick them up. $40 per flat.

Proper cream teas are made with splits. When we were kids no one made them with scones. Scones make sense commercially - splits go dry and stale quickly whereas scones keep for days. Jam and cream work well on Yorkshire puddings as well. Cream on good ginger cake is wonderful, as it on good...

There is only one thing to be eaten with strawberries or raspberries - clotted cream. Rodda's, down the road produce 25 tons a day.

I had to look just to find out what a "flat" is.

    Gin with flavors

It's changed over the years - in the early '80s my uncle used to bring me back boxes of 50 King Edward cigars, they were cheaper one for one than cigarettes were here.

If mine charged those prices they'd be out of business.:)

    Surprised it took so long....

We should start with the premise that no one gets an honour for doing their job.

    Gin with flavors

I had a 1900 LVA (Licenced Victuallers) annual, unfortunately lent and not returned. It used the common and possibly incorrect differentiation between beer and ale - beer, being dark, ale being light - and gave the average strengths of each as 5% and 8%. Bass is nothing like it was when brewed...

    Fish recipes

Just wrapped them in seaweed. We could probably have found water a little hotter, but it was just adequate.
