• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Front face aesthetics- The Wonky Donkey Woorkshop. Your opinion pls.

I’ve a double glazed sliding patio door behind the main workshop doors to keep the heat in & stop the noise getting out, it gives me around an 800mm wide opening so basically a single sized door opening & I’ve never had a problem getting machines in & projects out in the 20+ years I’ve had the...

    Lean-to workshop pipedream

You would really need to start a thread of your own as there are so many variables to be specific, some photos of where it’s going, the roof construction & the type of steel roofing would help with answering your question.

Front face aesthetics- The Wonky Donkey Woorkshop. Your opinion pls.

I’d go for a door in the middle, corners are handy for storage unless you are going to have a saw etc near the entrance then it could be handy to have the door to one side or the other, then you could open it to feed timber through, it really depends on your proposed shop layout. If you want...

    Lean-to workshop pipedream

How about something like this Roger Simple to fit you just need an upstand & it’s triple glazed. I’ve been plastering in the room below the doors & windows have been covered in condensation from the plaster drying out but there’s not been a spot of condensation on this roof light.

Had a similar experience a couple of months ago though non of the language difficulties. I’ve had an electric van for 12 months now & despite my initial reservations I’m well & truly delighted with it that was until I did a little job at a customers first thing one morning, the van had got me...

Oak Timber frame (and formally a Diminished stile door (markup and cutting the diminished part?))

I’ve never made a gunstock door but I fitted a few this one was original to the building fitted in a new opening If you have a bandsaw then making a new one shouldn’t be too difficult especially if you have chisel plane.

    Workshop (clean up)

I forgot to take a before photo but the sink area at the back of my workshop had become a real dumping ground the last few of months of 2025, I’d had so much work on particularly on the run up to Xmas that I just hadn’t had time to sort things out. Well that’s all been put to rights over the...

    Unusual winter weather.

Talking of working around dogs 3 & 1/2 years ago I fitted a kitchen & the folks had this 5 month old puppy He’s a cross between a Rottweiler & Tibetan Mastiff if I remember correctly, he was huge back then but really took to me so spent most of the days under my feet. I went to do a little...

    Unusual winter weather.

@duke was asking between two years 1963 or 1964. I wasn’t saying we’ve not had bad winters since though 1963 is generally considered the worst winter in living memory, it was the last time the river Thames froze enough to be walked on.
