• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

It may well be the length of the arbour Martin (@fuse ) ? As well as the width of the slot for the blade installed the insert plate? The width on the Evolution R255TBL+ is around/just over ¼" I think... without checking it. I've a 6mm flat tooth blade, yet to use, which I got after watching...

If your mitre-saw hasn't got the facility to do 'trench cuts' - an adjustable pin/level to stop the blade going full depth - you won't be able to do lap joints on it. I've found it safer to use a handsaw and do it the old fashioned way... or handsaw and chisel... a number of saw cuts along the...

    Glasses - what's your view?

I've received an appointment at the RUH eye clinic in Bath for the 8th April. It's too check out the cataracts I've, apparently, got - picked up by the SpecSavers optician at my biennial check near the end of last year (October time?). Although they informed me of the cataracts, they're not...

    Wheelie Bin Store

Looks fine as it without doors... sorry if not helpful 😔 I noticed the timber for the tops are running 'horizontal'... left to right. My concerns would be that the t&g will open as we (hopefully) get dry weather. If they do then any rain - when we get it - may/will leak in. If you decide to...

A question on insulating the ceiling of the Wonky Donkey

Hadn't seen your reply to Mike before I posted about cutting etc. Apologies 🙂

A question on insulating the ceiling of the Wonky Donkey

This is some information for the DIALL insulation product I used re fire risk: "Diall Recycled Plastic/Polyester Insulation (Loft Roll): This type of insulation is often described as non-itch, eco-friendly, and safe to touch. It is designed to be fire-retardant, meaning it is formulated not to...

    Possible New Project - Trophy

I hadn't noticed the engraving on the box either... sorry. Now you've mentioned it though... possibly consider sinking the box in to a piece of wood, lid closed so the engraving is visible, and the spoons displayed above the closed box - displaying at a suitable angle? The glass case and...

A question on insulating the ceiling of the Wonky Donkey

I'd fill the void (of the 8x2) with mineral wool type insulation. I recently used some (purchased from FB Marketplace locally) made out of recycled plastic bottles of all things. None itchy etc., BUT it was only 37 cm wide instead of 40 cm/16". Price I got it for made it worth messing with. I...

Doesn't make sense 🤷... but appreciate your comment to confirm I wasn't alone in seeing that price 🙏👍 And being Euros is even cheaper than £ for you £17.24 👍😀

    Conversion - bathroom to en-suite

There's a number of jobs I wanted (want still!) to do in this property we've been in for just over 39 years but the wife (along now with refuced funds 😕) are *half the problem* ...

I need to update my post as the actual price for one (if any left in their stores) is £24.99 A couple of people have posted that the item in their stores is priced at £24.99 while I was able to get mine at £19.99 ... It was NOT marked a reduced/on offer si I've got no idea why I was able to...

Tooth Fairy Boxes - The finished article.

Thanks Malcolm - I appreciate your information regarding the problems that can - do - happen using a CNC... I have to admit that more than likely I'd struggle with one. Same applies to these plastic printing machines... plus I couldn't justify spending the funds o such for the use I'd get from...

Certainly makes it look an easy way to make using one of those machines 😀. Wish I'd got the space... Looking forward to seeing the progress and finishing 👍

    Conversion - bathroom to en-suite

You've got my sympathies Rog... I can fully understand what you mean about the plumbing side - as well as no 90° to the walls. This place that we've been in for night on 40 years (this Dec) was built around 1796 - I've old deeds showing a sale in 1824 for £25... It's on a curve in the main...

Well that’s another f&£king awful day!

So, so, so sorry for you and your family 😪. Have suffered the losses of a number of family pets (companions) over the years... to many. Nothing spectacular but...

That's really nice Martin (@fuse ) 👍. Yours is looking as a finished item - mine a bit of a 'bodge' at the moment if I'm honest - but I'm now able to use it to move the air unit around rather than shift it backwards and forwards. I don't have the ceiling clearance to ceiling hang 😕 I had to...

    Nothing spectacular but...

Useful 😎 Over the years I've accumulated quite a bit of offcuts of different lengths and widths etc., of timbers and melamine faced chipboard - never mind the yew t&t boards and some PAL English oak. Gradually been making a hole in it with the units for my workshop - a post I keep meaning to...

Well... they certainly need to be approached with caution in handling. Ive an Erbaurer plunge saw (another 'cheapie' 😎) that has shown itself to be capable. However... getting used to cutting with it on the left-hand side of me when trimming back wide boards... super cautious ⚠️
