• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

9" Rockwell contractors saw. On legs and on a mobile platform to move around in the garage.

If I could justify the expense I would also have a bandsaw :(

But then I would have difficulty finding a place for it as there is already a RAS and 2 scroll saws on mobile stands ............ and I will not be parking one of the vehicles outside
 
I wanted to tick the hand saws only box, but I've been honest and admitted to my little DeWalt circular saw.

I am in the process of fully manualising my work, but the saw, a router and the cordless drill remain. The hand held power planer went after the bearings seized and melted their way out of the plastic case. I use the saw mostly for rough DIY jobs, and the router rarely after being unnerved by the time I found my cut gradually getting deeper as the cutter tried to work its way out of the collet.

My old Dad has a table saw he made himself. Frightens the life out of me, thankfully he is a bit old to use it anymore. An open angle iron frame, no guarding of any sort, no riving knife, no brake, and the start-stop is a round, brown bakelite light switch. The depth of cut is adjusted by a big acme screw, which moves on its own so has a locking device in the form of a loop of baler twine. On the bright side, he does have a push stick :D
 
When I was young my dad had the back room of the ground floor for his workshop. Could barely walk across the middle of the floor for tools, push bikes, and projects. He had a home made table saw. It was a proper cast iron table, but only about a foot square. the motor was 2 foot away and the pulley and belt was just "there". No guard of any sort. I played in there a lot as a young child, but even then knew better than to turn the thing on. :shock: 8-)
