• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. My air compressor has died (the gaskets have split), it is no longer made, and no spares seem to be available. It is a WolfAir Apache 50II, 2006, which was made by Omega Wolf. Confusingly, there is a compressor with exactly the same name still on the market, but it is by a different manufacturer and is quite different.

I have a perfectly good tank, the cylinder and piston are fine. For the sake of a gasket kit (and possibly a cylinder cap-thingy), I don't want to be chucking it all away and buying a new one.........and I've got a lot of work for it coming up shortly.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
 
Can you buy the right gasket paper for it and make your own gaskets?

I make my own gaskets for my motorbikes, using A4 or A3 sheets of gasket paper, using the old gasket as a template.

Hi Mike

The original company appear to have gone bump, or rebranded, as their web presence appears non-existent now. These guys are supposed to be they, but are these the ones you say are different?

Looking on the web it confirms they went bump and the new firm don't hold spares. Few people making their own out of 1mm copper sheet :shock:

The gasket that has failed is 3 or 4 mm thick, like a fibrous cardboard. I doubt the thickness is critical, but nevertheless, I have only seen much thinner gasket papers. Do you know if thicker stuff is available?

They can't help. They simply bought the name, and rebranded another type of compressor with the WolfAir label.
 
Just looked on ebay and there are specialist sellers that have sheet gasket materials of various types some of which say they can be used for head gaskets. Why not contact a seller or two and ask them if they have something suitable for your compressor?

You could try doubling or tripling up with thinner stuff.

If the head doesn't get too hot, what about hardboard and a good dollop of something like Hermetite ( if they still make it).
