• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. Anyone got a DF700 Domino?

So thinking long and hard about a re-tool, I love my DF500, and although I have a Lamello Zeta, I have only used it about 3 times and was thinking of passing it on and getting the Dominos big brother.

Anyone got the 700? what do they think of it?

Had one around 8 years now Craig not only do I use it as a domino cutter but also as a general mortiser using it to cut traditional mortises when doing m&t joints

I have one. Cracking bit of kit. How desperate are you for one as once I've finished here I'll be selling it, But that won't be until sometime next year. I also have the DF500...the proper one with the round dooberries.
 
Yep. Had a DF700 first and then the 500. Sold the 700 (at a profit) and then regretted it so bought another one from a retiring chippie before used prices went totally silly.

I actually prefer making traditional M&T joints but for neat framimg work and fast cabinet construction, including doors and drawers, a domino is fast. I use the small one more though.
 
I do love my DF500, and as i find i have no real use for the Zeta P2 which has skyrocketed in price, i'm thinking to sell that and get the DF700 for bigger projects. Didn't actually think about using it for traditional mortices! thats a good shout with tenons cut on the bandsaw!
 
Particularly on big timbers I found taking the tool to the wood rather than the wood to the machine a lot easier, plus in a small workshop a decent mortiser takes up a lot of space I sold my mortiser not long after buying the DF700.

These were big mortises I cut on a frame first doing a few cuts with the domino

That's a good idea Doug. Totally obvious but I didn't think of it!
 
It is a handy tool, another use that people often overlook is cutting the mortise for door locks.
 
I have one. I decided I waned to replace all my internal (non-original) doors. I've only done one, as it happens. But we used it to make a couple of doors for my mate's Spanish place, worked great. And I had a Little Accidentwith my workshop door and a gust of wind. I got the door back together and re-installed between The Event at lunchtime and sundown. There is no way I could have done that with traditional M&Ts
