• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Boxes

Love that maple round the sides, and I like the overall design, but the mix and match of timbers for the lids is just not to my taste. Far too busy with too many contrasting grain types and colours (both RI's and yours).

That's not a criticism of yours Rod as you've only copied what RI has done, but as much as I am in awe of many of his creations this is just not at all to my taste.

Nicely executed though, by you.

Four so far but another 2 for my Grandson and his partner but they will of a more “Manly” style.

There are two of each so not much repetition and easier in a way once things were set up.
They are for my Granddaughters who chose the woods and the suede colours.

Would it work though, with just two timbers; one for the lids and another for the box itself? - Rob
 
It might work but I just followed the RI design as best I could.
I was also limited by the amount of exotic woods I had, most were made up from 50mm square by 300mm long turning blanks. Just enough to make 2 lids.
I may have to make another one as youngest Granddaughter aged 3 ½ wants one like her sisters with lollipops and green inside!!

Having attempted one RI box design a few years ago, I know what fiendishly tricky little devils they are to build. I will have a go at another one as you've done here Rod, but as yet, I don't need one to hold lollipops :D.....perhaps squash balls, screwdriver bits and other detritus in my son's flat - Rob

I’ve been making two more boxes for the Grandkids, might just get them finished by Christmas??

Thanks Roger but sadly that’s as far as they will get before Christmas as I’m stuck in hospital.

I’ve undergone a Cryoablation procedure on my tumour to freeze and kill off the b*gger.
It was in my pelvic area attacking my sciatic nerve, so apart from the extreme pain I was losing the use of my Right leg.
The procedure took 6hrs under a GA and guided in a CT Scanner, the Consultant passed through thin probes to the tumour, then passed Argon gas to freeze it.

I’ve now have much less pain but at the moment I’ve lost the use of my foot. The physios are helping me to get mobile again and with a small device attached to my shoes I managed to walk a few yards. The hope is to get me home before Christmas, fingers crossed.
