• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I have been using clip converter to download music U-Tube videos with reasonable success.

But ..............

Today I tried to download and the message is "ClipConverter is not available for videos containing music."

It then sends me off to iTunes, and you now have to pay for a download.

Any suggestions?

I tried to put together a photo montage of my retirement do on Facebook and wanted to have the Eagles' 'Take it Easy' in the background. FB prevented me from using the music for copyright reasons.

I've had that copyright notice a few times even though the videos are "Private" on YouTube.
I videoed my Granddaughter playing a flute solo in a school music competition, using paid for sheet music, so why that was copyrighted I don't know?
Also videos of her singing to copyright free sound tracks in a school production of The Sound of Music.
Her performances must be so good that they must think they are professional?
The warnings state they may take further action but so far they haven't.

I wonder if they simply apply a blanket response to anything containing music?

Try recoding "Way down upon a Swanee River" on a kazoo and see if the still say it is copyrighted.

Or you could try any music on this website which is out of copyright http://www.openmusicarchive.org/faq.php

I just wish Faecebook would actually do something to prevent the utter bile and trolling not to mention the abuse that people receive on Faecebook..especially children.

Faecebook is up there with Twitter at the top of my 'Things I wish had never been invented' list. Along with drones (the flying toy type) and anything with the strap line 'Smart' together with 'Internet of Thing'.

I have to use YouTube as it's the only way I've found for "sending" videos, more than a very few minutes long, to others.
The videos are posted "private" and "shared" to others by including their email in the "share" boxes.
Emails and WhatsApp will only allow about 30secs of videos.

Phil, i ran across this problem a week or so back and found an alternative. I'll have a search later to see if I can find it again.

I've not tried it on youtube, but firefox has a free video downloader, that has never refuse me anything yet .
I'll have a look in the workshop tomorrow and see what it is, and if it works on youtube.

do you gave a link to a file I can try ?

I'm on linux BTW, but I don't suppose that should make any difference ?
Although .. it is the "hacker" OS of choice 8-)

I don't do Faecebook, Twitter or Linkedin.
What pees me off is when a site forces you to Faecebook if you want to look at something or participate in a competition or look at results.

Andy, if I remember correctly you pointed me in this direction when my other converter died.

It has worked fine now for a long time, except when their site gets busy and then tells you to come back later.

I use http://www.aimersoft.com/mac-video-converter-ultimate.html, its free and so far i have had no trouble with it. Use it to rip videos from youtube and convert them different file types to work in presentations etc. Allows you to do a load of editing and clipping. Also found a way to download a clip from youtube and turn it into n audio only file on my MacBook so i can use it as a ringtone/ message alert if i like.

Thanks for the link.
It shows me "Free Trial" and purchase at $49.95

The write up looks good, has a lot more functions than what I would use.

From the above link it isn't free - costs $54.95.

Hi Rod, there's a free trial version. I've been using it and updating it for a couple of years, not sure why it's not forced me to buy it yet though?

However I definitely didn't pay for it. It's a pretty good bit of software I think.

I just followed the link on my iPad and it went to the pay version only but from my MacBook it gives me two options the pay version or the free trial.

I will have another look at it.

Found something else that seems to work ok, will post it.

I didn't realise you were also a Mac man, Phil .

Bought a top of the range MacBook Pro when visiting a friend in Australia a few years ago and It was the same price as the lowest spec one here. Went into the Apple Store website and changed location to all the countries I was due to stop over in and it turned out Oz was cheapest. Even South Korea was cheaper and they have really high tariffs on Apple due to the influence of Samsung over there. Shows how much over the odds we pay for stuff here!

We get 10GB per month as part of our levy costs in the estate. The service provider decided to give the residents a Christmas present to make up for all the downtime and hassles we have experienced the last couple of months.
So up pops 50GB on the 15th December (I only saw it on the 20th), just after I had topped up with 5GB.

Now there are only 11 days left to use it all up at 5Gb per day (5+50)

Want to download some more movies and music.

Clip-converter is used. It has always worked ok.
Every clip I tried to download gave me the same rubbish as last time of “Clipconverter is not available for videos containing music”
Ok, calm down and surf to see what else there is.

Came across this freebie SaveFrom.net – yes-well-no-fine. It is a download and installs onto browser. Only worked on one file, gave error messages.

Then came across Onlinevideoconverter.
Easy to use and fast. Not one rejection or error message

YouTube Converter & Downloader - Convert to MP3, MP4, AVI

Big Smile :D :D

I've used Video Downloader which is a Firefox Add-On, it's free and easy to use.

We have unlimited broadband at home but staying in a hotel recently (which had free but very slow wifi) I resorted to 4G and very quickly ate up my 4Gb allowance on my phone. Fortunately my supplier gave me advanced notice with 750Mbs left. Additional charges would have been £6/250Mbs!
