• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Can everyone helping out with testing the new forum software please go and visit and check out the post I’ve added.

Thanks

You don’t unless I’ve asked you to test something for me.

I’ll drop a note out later to everyone explaining, but long story short the long awaited migration to a new forum software will hopefully happen very soon.

Ahh knowing that I've reread your post and realised I misread it as asking for help rather than asking those who were helping

Thanks from me too Mark. I know it's a lot of work.

The tests last week showed that the main things work fine for me and the things that didn't were probably not how anyone (including me) would want to work anyway.

Hi All

Mass email sent to everyone, hopefully you've all received it. If not, then this is it...

Hi All

As you may have seen on the forum chat, we are finally (hopefully) in a position to migrate the forum off the ancient phpBB software on which it is currently hosted, and onto the latest version of Xenforo, another dedicated forum software.

After we resurrected TWH in 2014 it was a learning curve for all of us in the Mod team, to bring back to life something that none of us had any knowledge or prior experience of, but between us we managed it and it has served us well since then. Over the years the software has started to show its age and limitations, many of which are starting to have a detrimental effect on the enjoyment of many members, and also almost certainly contributing to the lack of posts, in particular photo based content. By migrating to the very latest version of Xenforo it is very much our hope that we take away some of these niggles and we'll see a more flourishing and content rich forum afterwards.

I have gratefully accepted the offer of assistance from one of our members to take the migration process off my hands and over the past couple of weeks we have been testing some of the features to ensure we can bring over the existing forum without issue, then make sure we tidy up a few of the loose ends as we go along.

This message is to let you all know that our plan is to do this migration on Friday 5th April, so I will be closing the forum down at 09:00 so we can begin the migration process.

We don't know how long the process will take, but it will be a number of hours, so please be patient and keep trying the forum in the afternoon to see when we're back.

Assuming all goes well then when you get back in things will look different but your login credentials will be the same so just log in and start feeling your way around. If we have any issues that mean it will take longer then we will simply bring the original forum back online and re-plan another day to migrate, but fingers crossed things will be okay.

If you have any questions, concerns, issues, requests etc then there is a live post called 'Forum Testing' so feel free to add anything into there and we'll pick it up.

As I say, things will look different, and we may or may not get round to all of the cosmetic changes immediately, but if not then you may see things change over time but don't be alarmed.

Wish us luck, and don't forget, from 09:00 on Friday the forum will be down so don't be surprised, and hopefully see you on the other side on Friday afternoon.

Thanks
Mark + The Mod's (Sounds like a band name, I might start that up!)

Best of luck Mark and Alasdair. I hope it goes well.

Thanks, Mark and the Mods.

(Wasn't that a tune by Joe Loss and his Orchestra?) ;)

Don’t need it as I read it above but just mention (in case it is endemic) I haven’t received the Email.

Hmmmm

Check your spam maybe?

Have others received it that have seen this post?

FWIW I have not received that email either Mark. I do not imagine that you excluded mods from the mailing list. Is it possible with so many addressees you have blown the email server?

Hmmmmm I’m wondering if anyone got it then…

I used the ‘Mass mail’ function in phpBB which said it is to bill mail everyone in the database.

No email here. Anything in common for those who didn't get it, I wonder, eg all on same email provider?

Profile email address is definitely correct and works for all updates etc.

But that's all by the way, thanks for the work being done to keep us all happy.

Nothing here, either in the main inbox or spam. I do get emails for private messages, so the address is correct.

All it says in the log is there was an email send error, nothing else.

No email for me either (Gmail in that's something in common with others). Not that it matters as you've posted the email contents here :D
Best of luck with the migration, and my sincere gratitude for all the effort that Mark and others are putting in to give us all an excellent forum experience that we don't even pay for :eusa-clap:

Still nothing here, not a problem for me obviously but a shame if we are not reaching everyone.

Yahoo email address, working fine for PM notifications. Checked all devices on mail app as well as web based.
Not in Spam, Junk, Deleted, Inbox nor anywhere else.

Not here yet, but I've read the above so no bother.

Thanks again to the mods for all the hard work. Looking forward to seeing you all on the other side!
