• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi,

No WIP pictures I'm afraid but I thought that I would share a couple of photos of a garden table and chairs which I have just finished. There are seven chairs in total although one was a prototype which got modified a couple of times before I was happy with it. We have kept 5 of the chairs and two have gone to a neighbour to use in a sunny corner of her garden.

I used redwood (mainly from the unsorted stacks at A Grade Timber in Cricklade) for the furniture with a couple of coats of Barrettines wood preserver. I considered using hadwood or Douglas Fir but decided that if well looked after the redwood would last for a few years. Joints were mainly done with large sized dominos and D4 glueand I used mdf templates with a bearing guided cutter for the various curved parts.

Looks very good David, that table isn’t going to go anywhere! I like the little table between the two chairs for your neighbour, very clever. I would just suggest you put a chamfer around the bottom of the chair legs to stop bits being splintered off on the flags, and you could put a couple of pieces of wood across that central base frame and you wouldn’t then need the parasol base? Ian
 
That's a lovely set. I like how it looks chunky and solid but the curves still make it look refined and really classy :eusa-clap:

Many thanks for the feedback.

I can't claim any credit for the little table/tray joining the two chairs in my neighbour's garden. It was something that I saw in a shop a few months ago which I copied.

There are small chamfers at the bottom of each leg although they might not be large enough so I will consider making them a bit larger when I cover everything up for the winter. I already had the umbrella base so I made use of it although as suggested a simple board with a centre hole would have worked well.
