• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Harrogate woodworking show

Mmmm....I hadn't thought about it but :eusa-think:

It's a long way for you so I can see why you're there for two days !

Hi Doug

It looks like it’s only two of us going the others can’t be bothered it seems anyway I have always felt it was a good show
Martyn

Not that we can;t be bothered Martyn ...simply that I'm not looking to buy anything ..which is, at least for me, one of the main reasons for going to a show.

Something to do with a 400 mile drive. I'd be much more interested in these shows if the displayed some top notch woodwork.....but even then, I'm not driving that far.

I'd love to go. 62 years on the 'wrong side of the sheugh' and now that I'm on the same piece of dry(ish) land and within reasonable driving time, Life intervenes. I would imagine I'm not alone.

I've gone off woodworking shows after doing quite a few where there seemed endless turning displays and tools sales and not a lot else.
Whilst I can very much appreciate the skills of the wood turners, I can't get too excited about wood turning myself.

Well if you’re still there on Saturday Martyn perhaps we can have a chat, I figure you’re stopping down that way as it’s a fair old trek from Falkirk.

Hi all

Firstly sorry if I upset anyone no offence was meant but I definitely find these trade shows a useful source of ideas even if I don’t buy any tools

And Doug that sounds good I am staying down at the attached caravaning site as we are bring our motorhome down so we are there all weekend it would be good to have a chat Saturday

Enjoy chaps.

I have been once, 9 years ago. I found it to be okay but like some others, found it to be more about the tool sellers that what I was looking for, which was ideas and inspirations as I started out in woodworking (in my rediscovery phase of my life).

I will go back at some point but it's a good 2-3 hour drive which I don't have the time for this time round.
