• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hello, and thanks for letting me in as yet another asylum seeker ;) I see quite a few names I know already, including some I haven't seen in a while.

The nickname "Sheffield Tony" I picked up at university to distinguish me from "Italian Tony" ! Although I'm living in Bedfordshire now, I was born and grew up in Sheffield, from a steelworking family. I think I inherited a love of traditional handtools from my Dad, and like toolmaking.

I did woodwork "O"-level at school (showing my age !), and got back into it when i got married and setted down in our own home. I found myself still making very square and rather boring furniture. My wife found a green woodworking course at Wimpole Hall (NT property) as a thing to do for inspiration, so I've been in the Association of Pole Lathe Turners and Green woodworkers since - been to several bodger's balls and made a few chairs - the process of which I shared on that other place.

Looking forward to getting back to talking more woodwork and less politics :D

Welcome Tony, first 3 posts will be moderated to keep spammers at bay.
Have you made your own pole lathe? Would love to see pics.

Hey Tony....good to see you. Somehow I had missed that you were a green woodworker. Things are looking up in the hand-tool department. :)

Excellent!

More hand tools enthusiasm and use in prospect!
