• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi All

Another UKW poster here, this forum got recommended so thought I'd come say hello!

I'm very much a novice, powertool junkie, useless with hand tools (couldn't sharpen a chisel if my life depended on it) with ambitions of one day being a professional luthier. I've only built one guitar and it took me a year!

Find I spend more time trying to improve workshop than I do actually building stuff. I don't get as much time as I'd like but there really is nothing better than a day chopping stuff up and getting covered in "man-glitter" :P

See you around!

Welcome aboard Oscar (not that that's your real name I'm sure), good to have you. There's plenty of good people around here, as in UKW, who can offer advice if required.

Cheers
Mark

Welcome, Osc, from Mid-Devon.

My first guitar took a couple of years, and that was only a Tele lookalike.

The next one was an acoustic which took a year or so, but it plays nice and I still have to finish it off.

I’ve just imported a kit from C F Martin which I hope will be a WIP on here.

There are better guitar makers than me on this forum.

Hello :)

Yes there is that thing of improving the workshop rather than actually making things.

And I'm still kind of in London though officially in Essex. Oh and I avoid hand tools as much as possible too.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome Oscar. Doesn't matter how long it takes to build stuff, does it Mark? ;)

Don't forget to share photos or workshop or projects.

It has just been brought to my attention that my comment about your name looked a little pointed. Please accept my apologies if that's the case, it certainly wasn't meant to be. It was purely based on seeing people's email addresses when I approve the registrations and how they often differ from screen names, certainly wasn't meant to be a snipe.

Welcome Oscar. Whereabouts in London are you?
I was London born and bred but escaped when I went to uni in 1972 and never moved back.

Bob

Thanks Bob

East London currently, although hopefully moving soon!

Although I live in London, my "workshop" is a share of my parents' garage, an hour's drive away!

I'm hopefully moving soon, dying to have a shed/garage of my own!

Oh no, not at all Mark, I didn't take it that way!

Thanks for warm welcome everyone! :)
