• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi folks. Delighted to join your community. I love messing about with wood but sadly make my living in an office environment. My 'oldest' passion is stickmaking (walking and hiking) which I've been playing with for about 5 years, and I've recently taken to making small pieces of furniture (mock crate side tables, actual storage crate tables, tv/media stands, coffee tables) from recycled pallet wood. I desperately need a workshop so I can invest in some decent, bench power tools to improve my output and finish - am currently working out of a 5' shed, mostly full of pallets and hazel shanks, which means I generally only manage to get anything done on sunny days when I can work in the open air. I'm a tall fella, 6'3", and my current bench is a cheap work mate that is far too low for my back. Can't wait to have a full height work bench in a warm and spacious hut! Final issue is that the only decent space I have is in my landlocked garden, so I'll have to build my own workshop due to access problems for any off the shelf ones. And that's how I found you, whilst searching for shed build posts on the Internet.

I may have a few (dozen!) questions. :mrgreen:

Hi Mike and we one to the forum. Stick making is not something we see a lot of around here and sound like it could be very rewarding and addictive. I'd be interest to see how you fashion those handles.

As you have seen there are a couple of workshop builds on the go here at the moment and at least one more in the pipeline so plenty of useful information to be had and quite a few people who know what they are doing.

Hi Mike, I'm also from Lancashire and in the prep stages of a wrokshop build - Just knocked down my old 6x8 shed and in process of reclaiming useable wood from it and burning the rest
 
Ooooh, TWO more possible workshop builds! :eusa-dance: Any help I can give will be a pleasure. You'll find my recent build as a sticky in the WIP section of the forum. Since then, I have developed an idea for building smaller workshops without a concrete base, and yet avoiding the usual problems with timber bases.
