Ken Hawley chats about tools

Ken Hawley was the man who rescued Sheffield's tool making history. His personal collection grew and grew, until it eventually became the centre of a dedicated gallery at the Kelham Island Museum. You probably already know what a special place it is.

Ken, who died in 2014, was immensely knowledgeable about a huge variety of tools, how they were made and how they were used. The volunteers who run the gallery were well aware of how much they all relied on him.

So, from time to time, they managed to get him talking on camera. They have already published quite a lot of videos on their YouTube channel, alongside digitised versions of the cine films Ken took himself.

I noticed that a new batch of videos (from 2008) were uploaded yesterday. Ideal viewing for a rainy afternoon!
