Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I have one pretty identical that was part of my going to Teacher Training College kit in 1974 but Moore and Wright have been around a Long time, trouble is I doubt they changed much over the years.

Me too. It's still very accurate and I use it regularly. Old M&W tools are excellent quality.
I'll try to help put a date to it.
For starters, here's mine, which is easy to date, as it has the broad arrow and date found on kit bought under government contract for the military:
You'll see that the typeface used is not the same as on Duke's. It has closed loops on the g and a, in common with most faces used in books (except in italics). His has open loops on those letters, similar to many people's handwriting.
Moore and Wright Catalogues in the ITCL don't use the open loop face.
I do have a later catalogue, this one:
M&W were absorbed into the Neill group in 1970. The catalogue is undated but refers to events in 1978. Here's the internal illustration of the available workshop squares:
Different lettering again, all in capitals, with the model number and standard.
However, the cover of the Neill Group catalogue does show the M&W logo using the new style lettering, even though I can't spot it shown on any of the products.
So on that basis, I'd guess that Duke's square was made in the 1980s or later, which I still think of as "quite recent".
But it's still going to be a good one!

I have the same catalogue (size about 6" x 4 1/2" plastic covered). I knew that the M&W tools were included but didn't realise they were part of the Neil group. I clearly never read the "story behind James Neill" pages. What always tickled me about the catalogues was the personal info page.
We stocked many of the products and had a supply of the catalogues which is where mine came from in the mid to late eighties.
