Thanks for accepting me into Woodhaven 2.
I'm a time served carpenter and joiner that moved into quantity surveying, estimating and construction management in my twenties. I've been self employed for the last 30 years and have always maintained my woodworking interests. I built a timber workshop during Covid lockdown to give some dedicated workspace and in preparation for retirement at some time in the future.
My woodworking interests include woodturning, woodcarving and collecting & restoring old woodworking tools, particularly saws.
I look forward to getting to know the forum and making contact with members.

Welcome Peter. There are a number of turners here. I am the only carver, as far as I know, and I only do chip carving. But the hand tool section is a real gem, with some really knowledgeable and helpful people.

Hand saws in all their guises. I have several handsaws and a dovetail saw that belonged to my great grandfather that date from the 1850's. Plus plenty of other more recent ones.

Hi Mike, I'm a fairly new member of Hampshire Woodcarvers and have a particular interest in letter carving !!!

I'm pleased to hear that others have the same affliction with a "good selection of old tools" particularly in the south of the country rather than the truly possessed in "Tool Extravaganza" country in Lincolnshire :lol:

Or maybe there's a similar "Extravaganza" in this part of the world?

Hi Peter. Welcome. Another Hampshire-based member here (North Hampshire in my case). I mostly make furniture and boxes. I don't turn (yet!!) but have done a bit of letter carving recently. There are a lot of helpful people and posts on this forum.

Hi Andy we did chat, I had a small
wooden moulding plane in my pocket trying to establish it's age & use. Maybe I'll get there in the autumn?
