I need a greater depth of cut for some of the wreaths. The easiest way would be to get a bigger bandsaw. Explained the situation to LOML and that at the end I'd sell it on. "Buy it" she said.





So now all I have to do is get it vertical.

Serves you right Roger, bad timing I'd say as you had two strapping mates in your workshop just a couple of weeks ago, having said that Sam might have been tempted to spirit it away your new toy in the back of my motor. :lol:

Or was it our discussions that made you decide you had to get one, anyway nice bit of equipment so I'm sure your better half will not entertain any excuses for not finishing that handrail by next week. :eusa-doh:

I’ve got the slightly smaller 300E. Not bad (now) but I’m not sure I’d by one again given the alternatives. I got a large discount when I bought mine as it was a shop display model.

The injection moulded table insert on mine wasn’t flat and too thin anyway so went straight in the bin. I made a new one from a piece of polycarbonate and it’s still on there ten years later.

The blade tensioner is hard on the hands so I fitted a thrust washer and replaced the knob with a crank handle and it’s very much better.

The blade guides where somewhat noisy in use on mine. They were difficult to adjust accurately and somewhat bulky. RP stopped using this design on new models some years ago. I replaced them on mine with home made guides that look very similar to the new ones RP now fit.

Some of these points have been noted by many others before so it’s not just my machine which now works well with the new parts. The blade supplied, also as mentioned by others was rubbish. But obviously easily replaced.

You could always leave it like that and put a garden recliner next to it for when you want to use it...

It was an interesting purchasing decision. I could have got a comparable Lumberjack one for about £200 less. I have their battery nailer and it's very good. But, as I intended to sell it once I'm done (although tempted to keep on to it!), how many people have heard of Lumberjack ?

I first came across Lumberjack tools a quite few years back, at first I thought they were an American company as they seemed to have such a wide range of power tools yet I’d never heard of them before, turned out they were a British company part of Toolsave so I can only presume as their range is so extensive for a newish company that it is all generic Chinese tools branded as Lumberjack.

That said I’ve never used any of their tools so can’t comment on the quality I imagine they will be on a par with Axminster & the likes who buy in machinery from China with their colour & brand on them.

Isn't it strange. Used to visit the Rutlands' website a lot and used to buy some stuff from them but got disillusioned with quality. Especially the Dakota brand ! Never ever think of looking at their site these days.
