• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I got a bit more done on this today. It's a bit of an unusual one as the corner it is going into is tight and close to a radiator so to save space I designed it with a slide out printer/speaker unit.

It's almost ready for a finish now, might get that done tomorrow...with luck. :D

Allan, that looks good.

The slides are heavy duty for that weight?

What finish are you going to apply?

Cheers
Phil

Thanks Phil. Yes the runners are rated at 50 kg. I shall be putting a clear 2K finish on it.

In the last shot that is the front. The slide out has to be in the out position to make room for your legs.

Ok thanks Allan - I'm sure those runners are strong enough but my pull out drawers have small castors too? But I see you've no room for any on yours?

Hi Alan

Looks good, what finish is going on it? Just a quick question, did you consider the weight on the pull out side once the printer and speaker in in situ so that it won't tip over to the heaver side. As some printers are right heavy

With the weight of this desk there is no way it is going to tip over under the weight of the printer/speaker box. There is a lot of solid Oak in there. ;)
I am using clear 2K for the finish in a 20% sheen.

Nice as always Alan

I'm struggling to picture the 'tight and close to a radiator' that you mention. How does that look? I can't see how the design helps with that, but I'm clearly missing something.

Cheers

Here we go Mark. I got the computer desk installed today. Glad to say everything fitted just as planned. Customer was very happy with it and I couldn't stop her singing my praises for such an ingenious design. She also gave me a tip and said she will pass my name around. :D
