I made a watch box out of a sycamore off cut a few months ago and it ended up just sitting on my bench. My sister in law saw it and asked if I could make a matching jewellery box for her niece’s birthday. Here is the result ...



The box lids are birds eye maple. I like the external view of the black line stringing but not so much the way it looks on the edge when opened and need to refine that for future pieces. The lining is pig suede and the finish is simply hard wax - Alfie Shine from Workshop Heaven which is one of my favourite finishing products.
It was a bit of a rush but payment in the form of a bottle of 12 year old Balvenie Doublewood made it worth the effort
