We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Bought the Scheppach OSM 100, probably the same as the Triton one.

Currently awaiting a response from Scheppach but I thought I’d ask here in case I am being stupid..

The tool comes with 6 sanding sleeves but only 5 rubberised drums. The destruction book confirms this as does the outside of the box. There is no drum for the smallest size sleeve :shock:
So how is one expected to use it? The inside diameter of the smallest sleeve is a friction fit to the outside diameter of the oscillating spindle. Am I expected to sand against that?

The Triton one is the same ie supplied with 6 sleeves but only 5 drums, surely sanding against that steel spindle is not a great idea?

Sound highly plausible to me.
It would be impossible to make a bobbin to fit that smallest sleeve and still fit the machine.
My sander does not have a shaft like yours and so all sleeves have matching bobbins that screw onto a tapered stub below the table.

Check that there is no run out on the shaft. I bought my pre-owned and it has an annoying wobble which is on my round -2-it list but pretty near the bottom as I don't use it much.

Ok Bob, I guess that sanding against something hard like that is going to take a little more care than against the slight give of the rubber drum. I’ll have a play tomorrow afternoon and see how I get on.

I’ll need that smallest size to get inside the smaller curves.
 
This is how I use mine

Cover the bottom, put the shiny washer over the sanding sleeve followed by the s
shiny nut.

No time to have a play this evening, will have a go tomorrow afternoon and see how it goes.
 
I have two bobbin sanders, a Jet and another which l forget the name of, I will check tomorrow.
One of them has a 12mm bobbin, the abrasive is held by an angle bracket for a better word with a hole in one side, this goes over the threaded shaft when you tighten the nut on the top of the shaft the other half pinches the abrasive.

Fixed it to mobile cabinet and fired it up. Very pleased so far. Extraction is excellent hooked up to a shop vac.

Tried a couple of the drums and even with the rough 60 grit supplied the finish on both pine and oak is very smooth. I can see the need for a false table in order that I am not just using the bottom 25 % of the sanding drum. I can turn the sleeve upside down obviously but that still only uses 50%.

The smallest sleeve works just fine fitted direct to the spindle.
