Rob mentioned in another thread that I'd finally been doing some woodwork, of sorts, so here it is...
I wanted to build it myself from scratch but time isn't my friend so we found a local place that was incredibly reasonable compared to others wed looked at, so we nipped up to Wigan to look at them in the yard, liked and ordered. It was delivered as a kit of parts, they build the whole roof structure in the workshop and mark every joint, then photograph everything. Once you've paid they send you all the photo's so you can put it back together in the same way they did, so as long as you square it up properly and line uo
p the screw/bolt holes, then you can't really get it wrong :eusa-whistle:
It's 5.5m*3.3m in very good quality, slow grown softwood, all pressure treated. I spent time giving everything a nice double coat of Barrettine wood protective in Golden Brown, and painting both sides and tongue/grooves of the ceiling T&G, giving all the ends a good dunking in a bucket for a few hours to soak it all up.
Here's a few pics and if you can be bothered, a timelapse, of the thing going up. I had some help from my son, a little from SWMBO and the minimum from daughter, but still a team effort. My knees, back and thighs were broken after doing the roof T&G then shingles. Being up and down the scaff and ladders for two full days was a killer, but still we got there.
