• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Pretty sure this has been discussed before but I can’t find anything. I want to make up a cleaner and (maybe separately) a reviver.
Not after the usual wipe on finish type recipes

Suggestions?

Everything I know about reviver (including some actual photographic evidence ;) ) is in this note on the TATHS site: https://www.taths.org.uk/tools-trades/n ... 01-reviver I use the first type, recipe no 1.

Short version; equal parts boiled linseed oil, turps or equivalent, vinegar; plus a small amount of meths and a small amount of ammonia if you have it.

Thanks Andy,
The ingredients are roughly what I remembered, but volumes were unknown.
Turps substitute or white spirt.???
I have some real turps but it’s more expensive than malt whisky these days

Either is fine. Turps for the aroma, substitute for economy.

Watch out for the white sprit substitute it’s totally useless.

I thought white spirt formula was protected by law.
Hadn’t heard of white spirt substitute, I knew turps substitute could be anything the manufacturer wanted to chuck in.

Ta for the heads up.

It’s called clean spirit a safer alternative to white spirit.
It’s safe as it might as well be water.

I tried cleaning some bitumen mastic off my hand and it did nothing apart from spreading it about.
