These days I'm learning to take some time for myself. Not working every weekend going etc. For a brief moment there I had visions of making the legendary Kessler run from Nazeing to Carlton Scroop in under 12 parsecs in the focus ST.
To be fair I would have had a fair chance against the millennium falcon if I set off early doors and had Waze keep me updated on the plod.
Alas. That's a clusterf*"* of bad timing that weekend. Whole planets are misaligned. I've just had to burn a local witch just to remedy even Asking the old god's if I could go.

Not happening this year I'm afraid.

UPDATE...

Looks like we have Mike and Rene from Mac Timbers joining us with a selection of wood for sale.

https://mactimbers.com/

Bill and Sarah Carter are among some of the remarkable planemakers who will be in attendance along with Richard Arnold etc.

Just had a sneek peek at Mac Timbers and was duly impressed. Nice local outfit with some decent stocks of air dried timber. Just my sort of place for a run out except they're in Peterborough which is a smidge too far from Salisbury :D - Rob

It’s a great place in a lovely setting, Mike is very knowledgeable not only on timber but also cabinet making. I was fortunate to get a guided tour of some of his pieces in his lovely house the last time I was down there, this was one of his corner cabinets, all hand made.

It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re ever in the area.

Really pleasant afternoon at the tool extravaganza meeting up with old friends, I even remembered to take a few photos

Andy toolsntat with MrEd (formally of UKW) scrutinising a nice box set of auger bits,

An early doors hot & spicy jalfrezi finished off a great afternoon very welcome after a couple of years of sparse shows.

Interesting day. Good to say hello again to a few familiar faces - Andy T, Andy "toolsntat", Richard Arnold.

Amazing collection of obscure tools on Andy's stand - if you are reading, I'm still wondering what the three pronged tool looking a bit like a Hellerman cable sleeve application tool was for (in front of the tobacco cutter) ? Too light and old for sleeving (or putting rubber rings round a lamb's nuts).

Still wondering what a 16" (?) drawknife was needed for. Biggest one I've ever seen !

I came away without any more tools, but with the urge to get on and make something...

After intending to go and really looking forward to it life got in the way and just couldn’t make it in the end, not helped by my wonderful American rolling her car down a motorway embankment the other day, only one corner of her VW Touran not smashed to pieces, being in a lesser car would have finished her off, she climbed out with a bruised hand and wrist wanting to know if the car could be put the right way up so that she could continue her journey, that frontier mentality is something else!

We had an oick in 5th Form, a real PITA; Momma used to pick him up every day in the flashy, engorged, next VW model up from your lady's Touran...I gently enquired of the VP one day, was I seeing things or was it really a "Towrag" she was driving... :eusa-whistle:

I'm now back from my travels to distant Lincolnshire and can only agree that it was, indeed, a very enjoyable event. My only regret is that I didn't manage to look at everything or talk to everyone. It was good to see Andy, Richard and Tony again - Doug, I'm sorry I didn't meet you.

I didn't take many photos, but was drawn towards the same planes as in Doug's third photo. They're by Tim Smith, an amazingly talented cabinet and plane maker. These are some of my favourites, and also his tiniest plane, perched on top of a monster on Andy's table.

Thanks to all who turned out to support this one, met and spoke to quite a few people and hopefully we will do another in October.
A mention should be directed to the very kind gent who gifted me some amazing tools from his collection, for that alone the day will always be a memorable one. Thank you

Besides the sellers and me there was some splendid bits and pieces to look at.
Richard Arnold has his early wooden planes etc with a demonstration of making a glazing bar.
Tim Smith brought some of his amazing flotilla of chariot planes etc The crowning glory though for me is always the "Infinity Cabinet"
Bill Carter and Sarah had a nice array of tools on show.
Plus not forgetting the items that the public brought to show one and all.
Special mention and thanks must go to Andyt.
Cheers,
Andy
