Prices getting silly for old hand tools

The place to talk about tools 'without tails', so come here with all your plane and chisel, burnisher and bradawl chatter.

'The Altairian dollar is the principal medium of exchange throughout the Milky Way galaxy, partly due to the general incompatibility (and/or illusory nature) of most other forms of currency. According to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a competent hitchhiker should be able to see the galaxy on less than thirty Altairian dollars a day, although costs around the Guide's headquarters make this, ironically, almost impossible.' - Rob

According to the same estimable reference source in relation to the only true hard currencies:'The Altarian Dollar has recently collapsed (again), the Flainian Pobble Bead is only exchangeable for other Flainian Pobble Beads, and the Triganic Pu has its own very special problems. Its exchange rate of eight Ningis to one Pu is simple enough, but since a Ningi is a triangular rubber coin six thousand eight hundred miles along each side, no one has ever collected enough to own one Pu. Ningis are not negotiable currency, because the Galactibanks refuse to deal in fiddling small change.'

Be wary of Rob's offer.

I'm beginning to regret my huge investment in expensive stock and may have to close down my business to limit the damage from intergalactic interference. :eusa-violin:

Is there nobody on here with more money than sense? :D

That wouldn't be hard to achieve in my case - if I had any money at all.

Andy, you never said which part of that excellently non-controversial device you wanted £85 for...

...how much is the whole thing?

After all, I'm fairly certain you mentioned that Norm Abraham once exclaimed, "hrumph!," as he caught sight of it on a secondhand stall at a trade show, and we all know that doesn't happen to just any hand tool.

If you have even mobile phone footage of the incident, that must surely double the value, at least.

Andy,
can that device do micro bevels? Or can you throw in one of David C's rulers?
I do not think therefore I do not am.

cheers

Just needs a little eccentric cam fitted to do rounded bevels

Would you take £42 quid Andy?. That seems to be the answer to everything...
Been away for a while chaps. My apologies. I was splintering into a thousand pieces there for a while.
Back up to fighting weight now and enjoying life again. I have two old 4 1/2 Us Stanleys to offload. I believe from memory one is 1913 one is 1918. Possibly. Both are very much working tools and show that in condition. Anyone interested in seeing pics? I'm not interested in any great value from either. They are not in a obvious collectible state by any means but I'd like to offer them up on here before ukW as a measure of respect. I can obviously supply pics. Just thought I'd dip my toe. If anyone is interested in happy to share pics and details. Sorry if I'm pushing any admin buttons. Just seemed the right place to say hello after some time away. Please feel free to delete Mark!
Best regards all. Missed you!
Chris

Thanks Mr T.
I've sold most of my machines now. The hand tools they can try and pry from my cold dead hands. Trying to find a place to store my bench, the meddings and a few small tools like my beloved Inca. Hope springs eternal eh?

Well, now that some sensible offers are coming in, my business prospects are looking up! :D

Perhaps I shall be able to re-equip with Festool kit after all... ;)
