I work in the engineering department of a local college.
My official job title is 'Facilitator' - that means I run the stores and order stock, I teach (a little) CAD, milling & turning and some basic CNC, I sweep up, empty bins, do repairs and maintenance, design teaching jobs and resources and I'm a teaching assistant in the workshop.
At 50+ I'm on less money than I was at 20, but working with 16/17 year olds, and apprentices who are anything up to 40+ is (generally) brilliant, and I get access to all the machines when it's quiet.
Two thirds of people don't have a clue about fractions - and the other half aren't much better.
Good decisions are based on experience. Unfortunately experience is built on bad decisions.
