• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Hi from a currently cold place. The Canadian Prairies.

New here, at least to the 2 part of the forum name. I play with wood turning, flat work (mostly machines), and a little bit of machining. Some will know me from another UK forum, one in Australia, Canada and a few in the US under this name, QC Inspector and Curly.

Welcome Pete... from a chilly SW UK... definitely not as "chilly" (🥶) as you get though.

I've a mate flies his falcon (male Gyr/Peregrine) on a lot of the prairie who shares his exploits on YouTube as well as Facebook... shows the type of minus figures over there - plus adding the "chill factor" with the winds... brrrr

Didn't your province have -50C temps last month?

Might have been further north of us. -40C around here for a while every winter which you do notice if you are outside for a while, like plowing the snow drifts from the driveway for a few hours. It is -10C and sunny today, which is quite nice. You dress for it and act accordingly and it normal. The neighbour kids were driving around on their snowmobiles for hours a few days ago. Try to tell them they can't go outside to ride because it's too cold. We have homeless people with their shopping carts of stuff that refuse to go into shelters provided for them. Heated steering wheels and seats are at the top of the list when looking for new cars. :giggle:
