Hi Folks,
This simple constructed woodworking project came as a necessity.
Since losing our beloved dog 18-months ago, my wife has been getting the itch. I wasn't that bothered. She was getting more and more miserbale with everyday living, untilI I said with reluctance, "Would a dog make you feel better?" Her face lit up with a firm 'yes', and so that was that. She was on the Dogs Trust website in her very usual non-dithering, non-procrastinating style.
We now have a little chihuahua cross called Reggie, or Reg. He's almost 9-years old and in pretty good shape for his years. He certainly doesn't look his age. Anyway, he's a proper little lapdog which is top drawer for my wife. I'm now back in the shadows.

This of course is leading to a freestanding 3-panel partition with integral gate. I didn't take any wip piccies because it was a straight forward screws and glue assembly. The timber is 25x50 PSE redwood (or old skool 2x1 PAR) from TP. I started constructing yesterday and finished it this morning. My body now aches like I have run a marathon. But it's nice to smell freshly cut wood again.
I now realise I should have approached this job differently. I simply measured the span (5.6M), then made three separate panels, one with a gate, and plonked them on the ground as thus, below. I should have made them without the top rails, placed them in situ, then run a spirit level all the way along to establish a neater top rail. The junction between the two far right panels isn't to my long forgotten standard, but I'm an old git now and it will do. All going well, I'll treat it during the coming week.
