• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Recycling from a church

Looks like you've been very lucky, maybe I should start going to church. Mark

Help please - sewerage connection: what do I need?

The reason you have had no smell coming from that gulley is because of that U bend doing its job. Today you would install either a P trap, universal gulley or bottle gulley to achieve the same. Sounds like you have only had (correctly) liquids going into it above the grill. But these go on...

Mike builds a teardrop (doors, cedar strips, ironmongery)

I know nothing about caravans but you might want to consider if you ever need to sterilise the water tank how you would do that if it’s inaccessible Mark

    Base for step

I’m laying a new paved area outside these doors. Finished floor level will be 4 courses below damp ( which is also where the wooden door cill is) the paved area will be layer on a sub base of crushed hardcore and type one. I then need a step 2 courses below damp. My question is what would you...

    Compost

Ah, well I hadn't counted the bin store, chicken/chipper shed or wood store. I'd love to build a couple more sheds (and rebuild the existing) but being on quite a slope means foundations need a lot of thought. Mark

    Compost

I've tried to count up what you've shown us in past builds but I'm struggling to get to 11. I don't compost currently at my place, but when I did at the old house I would regularly find a snake warming itself in there. Mark

    Fence posts

Thanks all, Eric, just so I'm clear, you soak in creosote first, let them dry and then paint the bit that will go in the ground in synthaproof? I've got synthaproof, does it adhere well to the creosote? Mark

    Bending steel garden edging

Doug, yes edging paths/beds etc. I'll take a look at your suggestion. Trevanion, yes sounds like a plan, have been trying to work out how to lever it round and clamp it up. Robert, material wise I didn't realise I had those choices, I don't want to spend more than necessary and don't mind...

    Bending steel garden edging

SamQ, sounds like good advice. I was also thinking of putting it in the red hot ash once the flames had died down, though I have no idea if this is hot enough? Malc, fair suggestion, would need to have a think which town to head for and where to start. Guildford and Dorking are the closest...

    Bending steel garden edging

SamQ, well I’m an ex second row and have the bad back to show for it. I’ve done the asking around and can’t find anyone with such gas torch, hence my asking if the bonfire would work. I would be using some sort of former regardless Mark
