• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Pharmacy2u

I used Pharmacy 2U for a while, the only problem I had - once - was that they ordered stuff I hadn't requested. I refused it and it didn't happen again. This apparently isn't uncommon - I was told the surgery I now use didn't like patients using them for this very reason. I stopped using...

    Pharmacy2u

My longest wait was in hospital. I was told at 8am I could go home as soon as the pharmacy had made up my prescription. After checking several times throughout the the day, my friend, who had come to pick me up told the nurse he'd go to fetch it, which he did at 7.30pm. A whole unnecessary...

Yes, if using glass fibre insulation the advice was always to have a cold shower before having a hot one.

Sapele front door threshold: really tough clear finish?

I don't know Sikkens would handle the wear of a threshhold. I got a good finish on some really wild grained sapele by cross planing with a very, very sharp iron then going straight to sanding. Works for elm, as well.

Affinity Water - meter now activated conundrum

How old is the house? Quite often terraced and semi detatched houses were plumbed internally in pairs - when there was no metering or water rates it made no difference. Just a thought.

Sapele front door threshold: really tough clear finish?

I used to use R.P. floor coating on dance floors - excellent stuff. Use throw away brushes, they aren't worth the time and thinners needed to clean them out.

    Wickes

I've had Everbuild D3 good for a few years, but D4 lasts only months. The last D4 I bought was twelve months old, with a use within six months of manufacture warning on it. I got a refund.

    Removing screws

If you just need to tighten up screws, hot melt glue left to set in the holes works well.

    Turning a carving mallet

A good thing for making your own is you can chose the shape. I have fairly large hands and find small hafts uncomfortable.

    Turning a carving mallet

I did a thread on UKworkshop when I turned mine, but I searched earlier and can't find it. I used hot melt and drilled the bowl on the lathe. I used a new 2MT 15/16th bit (because that's what I had) which left a very clean hole, the glued the turned handle into it. You can get a good enough...
