• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I needed a bit of 12mm ply for the next upcoming major project in the 'shop and decided to head off to my local Wickes shed to see what their stuff was like. Retrieving a slab from the middle of the stack, I was pleasantly surprised; no voids, knots or otherwise nasties to be seen. As I will be using the ply for veneering, I was also after some Everbuild 502 as my usual TB3 is way to spendy to use vast amounts for that sort of malarky. Again I was pleasantly surprised to find that Wickes do their 'own' D3 weatherproof glue for the very reasonable sum of £9; my guess is that it's made by Everbuild as it has exactly the same bottle and nozzle arrangement. It also has a 'best before date' the same as the proper Everbuild stuff; it's now stored at 2decC in the fridge along with my bottle of TB3. Storing glue in the fridge apparently prolongs the effective 'use by' date so I shall see in due course what it's like - Rob

I too have used Wickes beech faced ply a few times and as you say it is much better than you would expect. If you are selective, it looks half decent too.
(I still miss Bruynzeel from my yacht joinery days though... the absolute Rolls Royce of plywood manufacturers!

Regarding D3 glue, I was reading the op when Amazon arrived.
500ml of 502 for £3.28 and fresh as a daisy!

The shelf life on 502 is about 12 months, when stored correctly, so yours is good until next Spring. The Wickes stuff which is basically the same tells you the best date to use it (Nov in my case) but not when it was made; I'll certainly have all my veneering done well before Nov. Storing it cool prolongs the shelf life - Rob

That’s why I buy it 500 ml at a time , I have one in my Amazon “save for later” bit and then buy when the price drops and I am running low.

I've had Everbuild D3 good for a few years, but D4 lasts only months. The last D4 I bought was twelve months old, with a use within six months of manufacture warning on it. I got a refund.
