• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    hacked debit card

I help my sister manage her pennys, make sure DD's are setup that kind of thing. Every so often I check her online statements. I got a shock yesterday because there were loads of payments for small amounts £15 and £18. All to a company called Beyond who are a mobile phone company in australia...

    Pond revamp

I built this pond maybe 17years ago, it is block work fibreglassed. About four years ago a fish died without me noticing and made the water go bad which killed all of my koi. My own fault and totally preventable. We'd had some of the fish for over 20years. It has sat since then just stagnating...

    The chateau

Anyone else been forced to watch this renovation competition show. It reminds me of changing rooms from the 90's. The bizarre thing is the winner gets given a chateau. The contestants are supposed to be diy enthusiasts but the quality of work is pants, and the woodwork even worse. As always...

    ukworkshop

I'm still a member but never really frequent anymore. I noticed a recent email making a great offer for reduced silver membership. The advantages were you get less adverts and a cleaner browsing experience making my time on the forum smoother. Erm no thanks, I really dont think you should pay...

    laptop memory

I got a message saying I need to free up some space so had a looksie. It says I only have 2.8G free but all of the listed items do not add up to over 200G. Also when you look at installed apps its no where near 121G.

    carers

My daughter finished a 2year coarse in animal husbandry and care last year and has been trying to find work. Jobs are not great in the area without a decent commute. She would like to do something to do something with animals, maybe a zoo or vet assistant. She has always been obsessed with...

    Royal mail

My wife has decided to thin her herd of handbags and she has decided that she will use vinted. So with that in mind I was given the task of taking pictures of her bags, uploading, writing the listings, packing the sold bags, taking the bags to the post office. I noticed that you dont dictate...

    new houses

I got a leaflet through the door recently saying there are plans to build 350 houses near me. On prime farm land. Our town is pretty much dead compared to its industrial past, and is only a housing development creating a commuter town. The builders were very keen to point out that its outside...

    thieving gits

Sat on couch with mrs and phone gets a few text pings off the trot. Its off the bank saying theres unusual activity on my card. I goes on the banking app to find 4 payments to bet365 totaling £270. Freeze card quickly. I was just warning mrs that she shouldnt click on any links via facebook...

    central heating install

We gave daughter grannys old place. I knew the heating was on its last legs but was hoping to get a bit more time out of it. The rads and pipes are 40 years old but it had a combi bodged on about 12years ago. It needs a total system. Daughter has no money so I'm paying. I'm seriously considering...

    cherry blossom

This tree has been in decline for the last 10 years, it got a hard prune and never really came back from it. Anyway about 18months ago I was shredding a load conifer branches and spread the mulch around the base and general area. I'm not sure if this years flower display is a last huzzah or the...

    shed revamp

I built this 'wendy house' about 20 years ago. My kiddy is now 26 and stopped using it a long time ago. For the past few years it was used to store my wadkin spares and general garden tools/chairs etc. It now needs some attention, the roof is rotten and the floor is wonky, a tonne of iron will...

    dodgy extensions

I've finished decorating my mother in laws house for my daughter and so started clearing a little outbuilding my father in law used to potter in. Imagine 100's of plant pots, push mowers, vintage brass plant sprayers. I also found lots of my tools he had borrowed. I dont think I will be...

    dishwasher

I'm refinishing the kitchen and the mrs has requested that I do away with the drying rack that sits on the workbench. She wants a washer. I've bought a cheap one just incase its a fad and plumbed it in. Gave it go without reading the destructions properly. I went for the eco setting. 11/2hrs...

    HDL LDL

I got some bloods done recently and then a call saying quack would like a chat about cholesterol. I recall some on here might have highish readings but disagree with the use of statins. Weirdly I changed diet quite alot about 7months, lost a couple of stone, found a few new holes in my belt so I...

    brushes and rollers

I built my face frame shaker kitchen about 5years ago and was allowed input into the colour. 'WE' went for a dark duck egg type of colour, I even got some car paint mixed to match and sprayed the fridge. For the last 4years 6months swmbo has said she doesnt like the color. The snagging list for...

    shed heater

I've always struggled with moisture in my shed, I have alot of machines and hate this time of year. I thought about adding one of those chinese diesel heaters but my shed is 15m by 5m and I thought it might be like a fart in a cathedral. I also thought of a woodburner but I sometimes dont go in...

    A couple of winges

No1 I've been pestered by heating companies recently, not sure how they got my number. The script is you might qualify for funding for a new combi and cavity wall insulation, I say I wont. They say well come around and do a free EPC report. Once done they say they can offer to top up my cavity...

    Ornamental lathe restoration

I made a start on my new lathe, it is going to take a while so instead of having bits laid around I got some storage crates. The previous owner had done some work on it but there is still alot to do. This is very different to my wadkin stuff. Its amazing what quality was achieved...

    Main dealers

My car developed a couple of warning lights, namely heater plugs and engine management. This indicates a dpf problem. I took it to the dealers to find out the problem. Whilst there they do an inspection which gets sent to your phone with the option of authorising and paying for the work upfront...
