• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I'm still a member but never really frequent anymore. I noticed a recent email making a great offer for reduced silver membership. The advantages were you get less adverts and a cleaner browsing experience making my time on the forum smoother.
Erm no thanks, I really dont think you should pay to use a forum smoothly, Ill stay here at the haven and just chill.

On the subject of paying to get rid of adverts. Subscription places like netflix are taking the pith. I never minded the odd advert but recently they have been horrid with 3-4min of adds every 15min whilst watching a program. I even got so frustrated I paid for no adds at an extra £3 a month. Now all I need to do is work out why my primary account is in german

There are any number of ad blockers, free to download. Try Adblock plus, or uBlock Origin. You never need to see an advertisement again.

on the other site - there is an option to turn off adverts even without a paid subscription ;)

Which is how I've set myself up. I never see ads and I'm not, and never have been, a paid up member. I did get a recent message from Dovetail, who must be an administrator there offering some sort of enhanced pay for use deal that gets rid of ads. I, as usual, ignored it. Slainte.

£30 a year isn't too bad if you use the site a lot and you feel you get a lot out of it (I personally wouldn't want to support a super shady American company anyway), but who in their right mind is going to pay £200 a year for a forum subscription?
