Aaargh!! I have a cold

Not had a cold or cough or flu for well over ten years. Last week visited a good friend of mine but totally forgot about the two young Infection Vectors 1 and 2 :evil:

Do I need a Night Nurse to rub herself into my chest. Is that what one does these days ?

Despite having the jab, my wife has been quite ill with flu this week - still not 100% even now. Passed on we think from our youngest Granddaughter?
My doctor daughter says they have not got the vaccine quite right this year so it's not being very effective.
Thankfully I just have a mild sore throat and a slight cough but I think the tiny sips of whisky I take is helping that [emoji3].

Benylin, original, definitely NOT the non-drowsy one. Not so sure if it does anything thing for the cold nor the sore throat but it makes me sleep which, imho, is more than half the battle in getting over a cold.

Baileys at this time of year also goes down well.

Don't seem to get colds these days but I'm suffering from a bout of sciatica at the moment…pain killers, physio, hydro-therapy and gym sessions seem to be sorting it out. In for the long haul though, but it doesn't seem to affect working in the 'shop as I'm continually moving. Sitting down to type for extended periods has been helped enormously by my new chair which is the most comfortable thing I've ever sat in as I can sit for hours with absolutely no pain - Rob

Bad luck!

Keeping indoors and warm unless you can't avoid going out.
Whatever you enjoy to help you sleep medication or booze
Regular doses of paracetamol to reduce head and other aches
Move into spare bed to avoid spreading the plague and disturbing others.

Works for me. I thought I was going down with a cold last week - turned out to be the runny nose bit without the catarrh and cough. The above regime seemed to send it packing.

According to my Pharmacist wife - don't waste your money on proprietary fancy brands - generic Paracetomol is the thing though if you are really stuffed up the basic Sudafed Decongestant ( the one without other chemicals) is good and for a tickley cough Blackcurrant with Glycerin or other fruit drops ( to keep your throat moist) are all you need.
She doesn't agree on the whisky but I find it really works [emoji3]
I've been taking Paracetomol regularly since my operations which I persuaded my GP to prescribe as you can only buy small amounts at a time - unlike the States where you can buy bottles of a thousand!

With my current troubles, I find the Paracetamol + Codeine (the standard low dosage that you can buy in Tesco) to be slightly more effective for pain relief. My GP told me that if it's taken for pain relief there's no danger of addiction.
Whisky is good though…SWIMBO bought me a bottle of 15yo Dalwhinnie today, so I'm all set up for the big day - Rob

You could always go see a doctor but forme what i see over there by the time you get an appointment the cold would have cured itself.
