• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

So I've just dropped the kids at school and headed to the local Co-Op for a couple of bits, then the pharmacy next door, then back home.

Quick browse of the forum whilst taking my morning...erm...break...and it's amazing how quickly advertising hits my screen!

One of the items I bought for the wife was a jar of full bean instant coffee, then what appears at the bottom of one of the thread posts but this...

Took all of 10 minutes from ringing the cash register to checking forum for this info to filter through the system...

Or it could just be coincidence.

There was a flurry of tabloid news recently 'Is your mobile listening to you' which suggested that mobiles, now that they had things like Siri or "OK Google..get me..." in constant operation, were Google eavesdropping on your conversations because people were talking about, say, an upcoming wedding only to open their browser to get adverts for weddings.

The jury was out. Coincidence and because the wedding was uppermost in ones mind that these adverts were noticed as opposed to being glossed over at any other time? Or is Google really listening?

Yes could very well be coincidence. I refreshed the page a few times and the next adverts were suggesting I might like to sign up to the Royal Navy, and then whether I wanted a payday loan, so could very well just be coincidence. Just seems VERY coincidental given the timing.

That happens quite a lot especially from Amazon etc.
I was searching for a hotel in Bath and am now getting messages from Tripadvisor!
My house insurance is up for renewal and I'm getting stuff in the post from every conceivable insurance company - somebody must pass the details on?

Nice day today - think I might do some more workshop/garage sorting/clear out and then I might be able to do some proper stuff in there!!??

Hold that - just been told WE HAVE TO GO SHOPPING! [emoji20]

I get zero adverts on any website I visit. Adblock sees to that. Nor do I allow any tracking of my web browsing movements - Ghostery sees to that. It is very easy to avoid being bombarded by gumph.
