Needed to retrieve our trail cam and brush the snow off the solar panel. The cam needs to be charged.

Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. Crossed the snomobile trail and into the woods.

Approaching the trail cam, cleared the solar panel and brought the camera back for charging.

On the way back the dogs met me near the barn. It was an enjoyable outing.

No need for snowshoes as we have about 8" of snow on top of an ice layer over 2 1/2 feet of snow.

Crikey Scott it really is quite extreme where you are. Is it a bit worrying or just get used to it.

Ian it has been a very mild winter so far, usually we have close to 4' of snow, wonky donkey weather 
. Two days before returning from the bathroom job it rained at home for a solid day, hence the ice layer. It has been snowing lately, hopefully I will visit the cabin tomorrow. Today the temps were around -8 C.

Today the temps were around -8 C.I think that is the major difference between your location and mine. Our temperatures are similar, but you certainly get more of the white stuff than we do. The winters are long here, like there, but our snow is never that deep. It would change a lot if it were. I do like the winter but I will let you keep your 4'.

4’ is something else! Well it would certainly make any Donkey Wonky lol.
Phrase I’ve come across here is “ lake effect snow “ where places like Chicago get colossal amounts of snow due to being next to a lake, either that or you just get a lot!

Lake effect does contribute but not all the white cr-p.
