• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

All the best for 2026 - any resolutions?

Happy New Year to you Robert (@Blackswanwood ) and all other members here 🥃😊. 🤞for a better year ahead and we achieve the goals we set ourselves - instead of those set by others for us.

My main one is to complete the *resurrection* of my workshop so I can return to creating from wood - and to get round to making a post about it... with lots of photos the Forum likes to see. 1st problem is remembering to take the pics during the process 🙄.

Others... to do the necessary work to my Bonsai, do the airlayers I intended to do last year on the garden Wisteria - and try not to let others stress me out 😎.

Here's to 2026 🙏👍🥃

Yeah happy new year to all you forumites, I don’t do resolutions but as 2025 was such a tumultuous year I’m certainly hoping 2026 will be an awful lot calmer.
Have a good one folks 🤞

Hope we all have good health and happiness.
Not a big one for resolutions. But this got me thinking, they aren’t much good if you don’t act on them, so how about a prominent sign saying
“ You resolved that you were going to ………… get on with it!”

Happy New Year to everyone. Is anyone making any resolutions?

Mine is to put my tools away as I go along rather than work amongst clutter.
All the best
It’s not the tools I need to tidy but the offcuts, shavings and part finished projects.
If I do acquire the odd piece of fresh sawn wood I must label in a way that can still be read in X years time

bonne année à tous..

All the best to you lot! :)

When I've finished as far as I can go with these seven heirloom instruments, I shall take a year off from instrument making and explore the current capabilities of my CAD/CAM software to achieve some 2.5D and even 3D carving. I might make a stock of tooth fairy boxes with a MoP inlay of a TF on the lid, as well as other items that might be able to be carved e.g., perpetual calendar, spiral marble game and may even try to sell a few at local craft fayres before next Christmas. But the first job will be some infill vee carving of initials in coasters.

BTW, have you ever heard the Bill Bailey Letter from the Tooth Fairy's Customer Service Dept?

Hope we all have good health and happiness.

Thee and me; don't think I've ever made a New Year's Resolution, ever, as one year just rolls into the next. Here's a sobering thought though; as of an instant past midnight on the 31st Dec, we are 25% through the 21st century. Where did those years go, why so quickly and what will the next 25 years bring? - Rob

I am not into making resolutions, but this year I did want to get back on a two wheeled bike, and today I went go with a group of my friends, riding my summer bike. It is the lightest bike I have. It was quite strange riding in a almost upright position and no electric assist, I did 34 miles.Screenshot_20260101-222143.png
