• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I bought my wife a Samsung S4 phone for Christmas from Amazon.

This week it started playing up. Random shut downs and battery area getting warm. Google search says battery failing. known fault. I email Amazon and ask if they will send a new battery as replacement for a known problem. They say no sorry can't do that but if you can't sort the problem you can have a full refund oh and have £40 goodwill refund now for the trouble and to get a battery. Paid to my card same day without a word from me.

Looking around for genuine batteries (there are loads of fakes out there) I see a report that Samsung service centres are aware of the battery problem and will issue free replacements. So in and out of the local centre in 10 minutes with new free battery and paid £40 for going by Amazon to boot.

Goes a long way when it comes to deciding where to buy something when you get that kind of response so I guess it pays in the long run.

Yep, that's definitely good. At very least you expect them to offer you a solution rather than fob you off, but to offer you that too goes beyond IMO.

Cheers

That's a fantastic result Robert!

Something similar happened to me at Waitrose. A while ago I bought some cat food from there (pack of 12 pouches). When I opened one of pouches it smelt off, so took it back the next day. I got a full refund and a free pack of the same cat food. It's their refund policy to refund and replace. Damn shame that they don't sell power tools, TVs etc!

cheers

I have had stuff replaced and refunded at Waitrose.
I bought some LED lamps from the Long Life Lamp Company through Amazon, they did not live up to their name. The lamps were very good when first installed but both had failed in 3 month use, I rang Amazon and the chap refunded the cost to my card with no argument at all.
I have had the same service from Tool Station with a D type lamp I picked up for my daughter.
