We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. Is it me but just lately I’ve noticed that ‘next day’ is now the day after?

Thought it was a quirk of the stuff I was after but it does now seem to have become standard. We are a bit in the sticks (South Somerset) but by no means the a-hole of nowhere.

A shift in policy or some environmental approach to reduce carbon footprint?

Means I have to break stuff the day before now!
 
I think it depends on the seller and the warehouse location.

I just checked a random book and it said "FREE delivery Tomorrow, September 22. Order within 10 hrs 33 mins."
 
I’ve found the stuff marked “Prime Next Day Delivery” do indeed appear the next day and I’ve never had a delayed package, I’ve had stuff arrive in less than 12 hours which is quite impressive considering the logistics. I think there are a lot of items on Amazon that aren’t marked as “Prime” which usually means they’re being sold by a third-party seller (much like eBay) and they will ship it to at their own leisure instead of Amazon shipping it directly.

Royal Mail has also been pretty shambolic on the whole recently as well, so that might have a larger part to play in it rather than Amazon.
 
I ordered a obsolete MCB from Amazon, fulfilled by the supplier who sent it via Envi with 48 hour delivery. It arrived a month later after the supplier had sent me two more. The second by Royal Mail 24hr posted Saturday arrived Friday, the third sent RM 24hr on Tuesday also arrived Friday. By which time the seller had refunded me and I had ordered one from a different supplier as I was by this time desperate for it as I needed it for a customer job to get their shower working. I can't fault the support from the first seller. I returned the three now unwanted MCBs.

I later received an email purporting to be from Amazon with the correct order number telling me as the Envi delivery had been made and I had been refunded they were going to charge me again and it even had the correct price in the email. I sent the email to the Amazon spam people who told me they had forwarded it to their fraud team as they suspected it was a scam.

I very rarely buy from Amazon as I do not want Prime and resent the time wasted spent on the hunt Wally button on various screens that enables me to make the purchase without also signing up for Prime.

Shopping online and delivery is such a lottery I prefer the local physical shops which unfortunately are getting fewer.
 
Whilst I dislike making Bezos richer, I find Prime to be very good and worth the money (we also watch Prime video and download free kindles). However, I tend to agree that things that were always next day, can have a day later delivery listed quite often - though that is always clear at the time of purchase. Amazon in my experience in Kent is very reliable. Massively better than absolutely dreadful royal mail.
 
Prime is brilliant - it works out pence per item, the amount we buy. The greater proportion of what we buy we couldn't buy locally anyway, or if we could it's a few quid of fuel and an hour or two wasted.

If you do use Amazon (think what you like about Bezos, but most people do) sign up to Amazon Smile and nominate your choice of registered charity. It's not a lot, but it's money they wouldn't have got otherwise and it costs you nothing. It's in the top left corner of Amazon's home page.
 
Since signing up with Amazon In the late 90’s I’ve bought over 800 items from them to date. I only buy from them if it’s cheaper, which with free Prime delivery it often is. I too have noticed delivery is not as quick but even two day delivery isn’t bad. It will be a shame though if it slips even further.
 
Did you know that Amazon Prime Video is not geo restricted? My French Prime Video works just as well in the UK. A shame BBC iPlayer does not work like that. A VPN gets around the problem, sometimes.

I recall in France there aren't any, but there are elsewhere, so don't completely rely on this. Before covid, I was somewhere in EU every 6 weeks or so and Prime was my go to hotel entertainment. IIRC amazon own stuff was generally available but other content was restricted.
 
Amazon delivery features are local. In the SE, we get super fast deliveries and can use the Amazon Day feature (where you can delay your packages to arrive on a particular day). In the NW, deliveries are reliable, but not as fast and can’t use Amazon Day.

I’d really like to be able to tell delivery drivers not to deliver anything after dark. It’s a real disincentive to ordering in the winter that they might show up in the dark.

TV licence payers fund the BBC...why should we allow freeloaders ? ;) :lol:

Your Prime subscription fee does. Like with all 'unlimited' subscription fees, while a lot of people will order enough to cost many times what they pay, enough other people will use it infrequently enough that, on average, the subscription fees cover the costs.

Just ordered a couple of items at 6.45 AM. Should be here (in the SE) today by 10 PM. That’s life near London. It’s not like that when we’re in the country.
 
I think a lot must depend on local geography - we live out in the sticks, but less than an hour away from a huge amazon warehouse, and are en-route for their delivery vehicles to at least one large population centre - so we often get next day deliveries, without ever having been prime members.
 
Just done some research on my Prime membership for ''free'' delivery mystery - it's included in my Prime tv thing giving TV Hub and BBC Iplayer etc which I pay monthly. Very good value.
