• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Anyone else flying a flag

Those drone displays were stunning.

They first used these to great effect at the Platinum Jubilee. They rehearsed in an isolated part of England...Northumberland, I'm guessing.

I have never understood "St. George" being the patron saint of England.
The bloke was Turkish!
W.T.F? :D 8-)

Georgi was not just Turkish, but he never set foot in Britain, and probably didn't even know of our existence.

Saint Andrew wasn't Scottish but Saint David does appear to have been Welsh.

I was a pupil at Feltwell (Norfolk) Primary School at the time of QE2's coronation. The headmaster who lived at the school was one of the few people owning a TV and he invited those who wanted to watch the ceremony were very welcome. I remember it as being one of the thrilling moments in my life along with visiting The Grand Old Oprey in Nashville in 1964 and birdwatching in the upper reaches of The Amazon and its tributaries on 3 occasions.
However I didn't watch a single minute of this weekend's ceremony.

So was Saint Patrick.......... kidnapped in Glamorgan, according to some historians.

There are other places to choose from, apparently.

All I can say is 'Thank God' for a PVR and the ability to Fast Forward. We recorded the dross...sorry...concert, gave it an hour's start. Within 5 minutes, we'd reached the end of our hour buffer and were back in real time. Then switched off within seconds.

Dire.

At what point do they wheel out Paul McCartney?
Or even worse, Cliff Richard.

I thought I’d not watch it & wait for the commemorative box set, then not get that either.

Its altogether been a nice quiet weekend here. Mrs in hospital getting a new hip fitted and apart from obligatory visits I've been pottering in the garden and workshop, eating when I want/need to and catching up on Youtube backlog by casting on to the TV rather than watching on laptop and generally repossessing the remote control.

Bit expensive at £15k for about 4 days peace and quiet though but you have to do what you have to do!

Whatsapp message this morning say she is ready for discharge from hospital. Back to the grind in carer mode again.
I suppose I'd better go and get her

Too Late. I replied to the message by instinct

She is all installed now. Sat in her (elevated!) chair, remote in hand and requesting coffee and biscuits.

Normality has returned :D

Katy Perry was spectacular. She looked amazing, can sing and owned the stage. To end it with Take That was laughable.

Who's Katy Perry ? ;)
Agreed, who is she and what was she wearing? I remarked to SWIMBO that her ensemble looked liked it was made from some Quality Street wrappers. The best bit about Take That were the RM drummers at the end; the band itself was dire - Rob

I did wonder if she was concealing a toilet roll.

You have my heartfelt sympathy Bob.
My missus had both hips replaced with only a seven week gap between ops. I was always suspicious about the instructions that she was not allowed to use a vacuum cleaner for at least 6 weeks post op. With a hairy black Labrador that loves muddy puddles it's a daily job - not even my bloody dog. :eusa-doh:

Thanks Bob, I'm quite domesticated and used to the household chores anyway. We have sort of lost count but I think this 2nd hip was operation no 26 or 27 for a mix of joint repairs, fusions and replacements.
We've nearly got through the first 24 hrs with a trip up and back down the stairs each time will get easier.
My son is still living at home and helps out evenings and weekends outside of work hours.
At least no pets to deal with!
Cheers
T'other Bob

Hard work Bob but at least you know it will improve relatively quickly.
My wife had great difficulty with the stairs for a week or two though both of her ankle operations were much worse than hips and her latest knee she really struggled with. She's only around 5ft tall and 8 stone dripping wet which helped both of us. ;)
