• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Barclaycard..

So at the start of the month they emailed and text messaged me that they were going to replace my not very old card with a new one for some undisclosed security reason. message also said don't worry there has been no fraud.

We have had one maybe 2 mail deliveries so far this month. Normally something turns up most days. So no new card. Message yesterday says old card deactivates on 19th please use new one. No new card? Phone us.

Phone us - if only it were that simple. 10 minutes of trying to get a computer bot to understand me only to end up in a queue that is over 40 minutes. Constant voice messages to use the message system on the app and web site and avoid the wait. So I hang up.

Go on web site - message system is too busy and unavailable.

I'm sure the card is sitting in a mountain of undelivered mail in some strike affected warehouse so not worried and have other means of payment but still annoying. Maybe they are flooded with non delivered card queries.

Feel a bit better now typing that out. Maybe I'll try again later or early tomorrow.

Got through eventually. My old card is not just expired it's number is erased on their system so couldn't find my account by number - they needed the new number I don't have!

Got there eventually. Long story short no card for now and keep waiting for post to restart. OK by me for a week or two.

Oh and I'm now voice mapped on their system as an extra ID measure. Like that will work..

Sounds a perfect time to move to a new card provider. Although the cashback deal on the fee free amex card seems attractive, smaller shops usually refuse amex.
Modest cashback deals from the likes of Nationwide work well and give a nice to have little bonus once per year.
Management by phone app works well for most cards but few allow you to download a copy statement (for ID) purposes so ease of online sign in is quite important. Nationwide is OK but needs smartphone to give security code.
Recent experience with santander/natwest/HSBC cards have been reasonably positive too.
Martin Lewis website gives pretty good comparison of cards and perks.
